PERFECT NUTRITION: DONE AND PHAILED. MOSTLY
by:Pox
2013/06/01
Alright, so this month was a mixed success. I ate way too much. More than I would have had it stuck to the strict nutrition plan, but I ate only what was on that plan. I got to try a bunch of new recipes at least. Here's some I took pictures of. Bah who gives a shit.

Lunch - Chicken breast, long grain brown rice, baby carrots, broccoli and thai dressing.
This was pretty good to me. I'd eat a plate like this 6-7 times a day with no problems. This is why people get fat lol.

Snack - 0% Greek Yogurt, berries and maple syrup.
This makes the yogurt edible. Especially the syrup. Almost as if pure sugar is the best.

Lunch - Chicken breast sandwich with some vegetables.
Whole wheat bread is too damn good. I can't stop eating that stuff. I'm not buying bread again haha.

Lunch - Brown rice, smoked salmon, salsa, pesto, vegetables.
How fancy is that, right? I was eating like a king this month. These meals are all 600 calories. Does this seem like a lot of food to you? For me this is just a snack. HMMM

Lunch - Turkey wraps with hummus, vegetables and tomatoes.
Love this stuff. Anything with bread or hummus it's awesome.

Breakfast - Shake - Almond butter, banana, rice milk, protein powder.
This is delicious and surprisingly long-lasting.

Lunch - Turkey Wraps with spinach. Yum.

Breakfast - Toasts with almond butter, banana and poached eggs.
This is one hell of a tasty breakfast. Probably can eat 20 toasts with almond butter. My favourite thing ever.

Breakfast - Whole Wheat waffles, greek yogurt, almond butter, maple syrup and berries.
Pretty amazing breakfast again. See, how can you not be fat on a diet like this? Who eats just one of these plates? It's too good damn it.

Diner - Burgol. Has vegetables, chicken breast, chick peas, herbs, feta cheese, black olives.
Burgol is some kind of grain that is just like couscous when cooked. Once again, no complaints on the taste because this is great. Cheese? Hell yeah I want it.

Lunch - Chicken breast sandwich with baby carrots, hummus and a fruit.
Just couldn't get enough of those sandwiches because of the bread. I must have diabetes or something. Also hummus as a dip is dangerous. You really have to measure how much you put on your plate because those calories add up FAST and you'll be Jabba the Hut in no time if you just dip blindly from your hummus vat.

Diner - Coconut shrimp curry with spinach on brown rice.
This has peanuts too. Coconut milk? Hell yes. Nothing about this diet is bad. I can definitely see a normal person eating like this and be happy. BUT NOT ME.

Diner - Sweet potatoe fries, chicken breast and vegetables
I made the best fries ever, they had pumpkin seasoning.

Diner - Mealballs on whole wheat pasta with tomato sauce. Also vegetables.
You eat so many vegetables on this diet. I think I'm just stretching my stommach out at this point, like some fucking cow.

Diner - Tacos. Yep.
These don't keep well. Nothing turns to mush in a fridge quite like a taco shell full of salsa.

That's maybe half the recipes. This definitely made me discover a few new things I'll probably keep doing in the future. The downsides of this are definitely the much larger proportion of time spent cooking than I'm used to and the cost of the food. I'd say this costs 3-4 times as much as my regular diet as well as tripling my cooking time. Eating greek yogurt and berries every day gets REAL expensive.

Here's a chart of my weight for the month:

So no real difference there. Notice that huge slump at the start. That was the first week or so where I only ate the exact amount of food she said to eat (2500 calories per day). After that is me just saying "fuck it" and eating MOAR. Still healthy food, but TOO MUCH. One of my main weaknesses during this:

This was an "on the bike" food, which I ate WAY TOO FUCKING MANY OF. They're cookies after all. I'd eat a box in a day no problem. Whenever I'd buy some for a race or a long ride I would then just eat the rest later. The lesson: Don't buy anything good. Ever.

Eventually you'll crack and when that happens, it's better if all you have lying around is a bag of carrots and not a bag of Twizzlers.

Anyway, it was definitely entertaining to try this, learned a lot about new recipes and foods. I think I will use some of what I learned going forward and I have also learned more about myself. FUN FOR ALL.
